A Little About Me:

I am the definition of someone who works to travel. Traveling is therapeutic for me and I have been blessed to experience beautiful places and people. My first international trip was to London and Paris when I was 16 and I've had the travel bug ever since.

Bermuda did not disappoint. My girls and I definitely could have spent more time in Bermuda because although the island is small, there's lots to see and do. So the highlights for us were spending the day at Horseshoe Bay Beach which was breathtaking and relaxing. We did not have people trying to sale us stuff on the beach and we did not have to walk far to grab a cocktail or fruity frozen drink. We also enjoyed our tour of the Crystal Caves. It was a cool experience that was enjoyable even for those with mobility issues. It was only 83 steps down but there's a railing the entire length of the steps. But there's also a steep heel that was easier walking up than walking down. Our driving tour of the island also did not disappoint. We booked through Winsome tours, it was really nice learning about the history of the beautiful country while taking in some of the bright colors and lush greenery during our private tour. Our tour guide even recommended we try the Bermuda Fish Sandwich at Anchor Bar (located in the Dock Yard) and it was delicious. Lastly, the nightlife ... we heard from locals that the best spot for a Monday night was Snorkel Park Beach and they weren't wrong. That's also in Dock Yard. The main party/bar scene is in Hamilton on Front Street but that was 45 min. from where we were staying and we heard it was pretty dead on Monday nights. Snorkel Park Beach had a mix of locals and tourist but the DJ was lit. He played a mix of hip hop, r&B and pop. And people were not just posted on the wall, most were actually dancing. Before we went to the club, we stopped by Bone Fish Bar to pregame ... good drinks and music there as well. Overall, Bermuda is beautiful with lots to enjoy. Happy Traveling!

    WhereToStay

Cuba ranks in my top three travel experiences. My girls and I rented the cutest Air BnB (Casa Habana Vieja, an special place) that was just a block and half from the Museum of the Revolution. I read lots of reviews before deciding to stay near the Museum of the Revolution and it was ideal for everything that we wanted to do ... close to a main street where we could easily hail a taxi, it was also walking distance from many attractions, had several good restaurants and shops in the neighborhood and more. It was on a quaint street and had the cutest Spanish style balcony that was perfect for morning coffee, afternoon tea and evening people watching. Armando, our host, even coordinated our driving tour of the city, our taxi ride to Varadero beach, recommended restaurants (my favorite was Habana 61 which was only a block from the Air BnB) and even exchanged our dollars for Cuban Convertible Pesos. The neighborhood was safe and affordable. Our Air BnB was only $600 total for five nights. The housekeeper came to clean mid-trip, bring fresh linens and restock the fridge with drinks and snacks that we could consume (for a small fee) at our convenience. Overall, it was an amazing trip and our location and Air BnB experience made it even better. Happy Traveling!

    Affordability

I really enjoyed my girls trip to Cartagena and overall the trip was pretty inexpensive. However, it's all in how you plan and what you choose to spend your money on while you're there. Pros: The flight from DC was only around $550 roundtrip. We traveled in early April so the weather was beautiful. We stayed in a beautiful Air BnB in Bocagrande. It was less than $200 per person and it had two bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The view from the condo was amazing although the beach was not ideal for swimming/laying out. However it was perfect for morning meditation and coffee/tea. Cons: The currency conversion between Colombian Pesos and U.S. Dollars was not always easy and/or quick to figure out. This left some in my travel group feeling unsure about how much they were actually spending. Additionally, staying in Bocagrande increased our taxi expenses for the week as most stuff we wanted to do was outside of Bocagrande. Other than street food, most of the food was not as inexpensive as some other South American and Caribbean countries that I've visited. So if you're a foodie just keep in mind that you might not eat as cheap as you may like. My favorite restaurant in Cartagena is El Arsenal: The Rum Box. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Happy Travels!
