A Little About Me:
My name is Valeria. I am an Afro-Latina who enjoys traveling. I began traveling 2 summers ago and have visited 7 countries since. There is nothing not to love about getting to know the world. I have the best time when I am abroad.
I stayed in Montego Bay, Jamaica and there is just one place where you most absolutely go for jerk chicken and that is Scotchies. This places had the BEST jerk chicken I’ve tried in my life!!! We also went to Blue Hole. The staff here were so friendly and helped us all the way up the waterfall. Once you get to the top you’re able to jump several times, it was a great experience. We chose this place because it is less crowded than Dunn’s River Falls and offers the same experience. If you are looking to stay away from a huge crowd of tourists then this is the place to go!
I traveled to Medellin, Colombia with a friend who is from there and had a real great Colombian experience. Because I traveled with her I stayed in her family home. The city was amazing. I traveled during Christmas time and the amount of effort that goes into decorating this city for Christmas is unbelievable. The entire city is lit up. There are so many things I would suggest in Medellin. For one, get out an enjoy their food. It is super cheap to eat around in restaurants and the food is delicious. On New Years we went to Bello....the people here will party on the streets until the sun comes up. They are also very welcoming...it was a night full of drinking and eating, what could be better? While in Medellin also visit the Escaleras electricas de la Comuna 13. These are electrical stairs that were built to get to the top of the mountain. At the top you could see what was once one of the most dangerous barrios of Medellin. It is now covered in art and offeres an amazing colorful view of the town. If you are an adrenaline junkie please visit San Felix. It is a bit of a drive all the way up a mountain but once you get to the top you have an amazing view. From the top of the mountain you could go paragliding. Although I was soooo scared to do this, making the decision to do so was the best decision I could have done. It is almost like skydiving but instead you are running off a mountain. The trip is also very smooth the scariest part is actually running off the mountain. Another thing to do here is to take a drive to Guatape. This city is great for pictures -- it is considered to be the most colorful town in Colombia. We also took a boat tour here which took us around the lake and showed us some of the biggest mansions in the area, one which belonged to Pablo Escobar! You could also climb up the stairs of el Penol de Guatape which is a giant rock and see the entire city from up top.
If you are looking to party all night long then Cancun is the place for you. I went to Cancun for my 21st and had the time of my life! There are tons of clubs to get to in Cancun. Make sure you speak to someone in regards to where to go and on what night....each club has a specific night of the week in which they are the place to be. I stayed at the Riu Cancun which was great because we were a walking distance from the strip. We also visited the Chichen Itza Ruins in Yucatan which was a great experience. The specific tour we chose also took us to swim in a underground natural pool which they call Cenote. We also did Xplor at night time, this is a great place for people seeking adventure. They have 12 different lines for zip-lining.
I am Dominican, I have traveled to Dominican Republic various times and have visited many different cities, Santiago, Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Samana, Higuey and so on. I am not saying this because this is my country, but Dominican Republic truly offers the best hospitality. At any resort I have stayed at the staff have been the kindest, most energetic, funniest and helping. They welcome everyone with open hands and are always looking to have a good time. The beaches are beautiful no matter where you go. You will not be disappointed when you stay in a Dominican Resort. Below I will include the places in which I have stayed: Punta Cana: Dreams Punta Cana as well as Paridisus Samana: Grand Paradise Samana-an Amhsa Marina Resort-All Inclusive, Las Galeras Las Terrenas: AirBnb Hilltop Refuge Las Terrenas Hosted by Justin
Havana has to be one of the most beautiful cities I have traveled to. Everything is just so pure it gives you a real feel as to how life could have been years before we were born! We stayed in an Airbnb - Revolution Boutique the Havana Suite. The host was super helpful. They cook breakfast for you every morning and offer tips on what to do. They recommended this amazing place we visited that you should too! It is a nighttime experience - a museum called Fabrica Del Arte Cubans. It is an art gallery that also serves as a night club. It contains amazing artwork and is really something to see. I also suggest taking the bus to the beach! It was super cheap for the round trip fare I can’t remember the exact price but the beaches were amazing and very clean. Do enjoy the authentic food the city has to offer and drink as many mojitos as possible!! Make sure to bring cash as you WILL NOT be able to use a US credit card anywhere. There is also no WiFi of phone service in this city. Snapchat is banned in the entire country...it is really a way to escape for a while
I went to Phuket with my boyfriend and have nothing bad to say about this city. We stayed at the Wyndham Grand Kalim Bay private pool villa and felt like true Royalty in there. The private infinity pool from the room offers an amazing view of the city and Patong Beach. The staff in the hotel were so accommodating and always available. The hotel offered a free shuttle to all the main attractions. I do suggest that you rent scooters from a local shop in Patong. Getting a Tuk Tuk or cab anytime you need to get around could really add up. We rented scooters for $6 a day!!! We were able to go anywhere we needed to go on our own time. This saved us tons of money. Do the island hopping tours, they allow you to visit many islands in a single day. As you may have read in past reviews there are so many things to do in this city...enjoy every bit of it!
Bangkok is an amazing place to visit and it is so affordable! Make sure to visit the beautiful temples the city has to offer. Get an entire day pass for the boats that get you around the temples that way you don’t have to pay everytime you hop on. Make sure that when you visit the temples you cover your shoulders and legs or you will be forced to buy shirts and pants before getting in. Visit the floating market for an amazing experience. The market offers everything from food, clothes, souvenirs and everything you could think of. Make sure you take advantage of Thai massages for as little as SIX American dollars!!! That will really help you feel relaxed. Please don’t spend crazy amount of money eating inside your hotel when the city offers amazing Thai food for much less all over.
Hey guys! Barcelona is truly an amazing city and from my own experience you could have tons of fun without spending a crazy amount of money, what’s better?!!! Here are a few things that you should definitely check out in Barcelona: 1. La Sagrada Familia - Make sure you get your tickets online prior to arriving if you want to go inside. 2. Parque Guell if you want to see more of Guadi’s amazing work - great for pictures. 3. Mercado de la Boqueria - one of europe’s largest food markets. If you love food like me, this is the place to spend a couple hours for sure. Make sure you come with an empty stomach to fit as much as you can!! 4. La Costa Brava - if you wanna see and swim in beautiful waters, use one of your vacation days to travel to this beautiful coastal region of Catalonia. You could either take a train or drive there yourself. 5. Rent electrical bikes and ride up to the top of Montjuic. Make sure you get the electrical bikes as getting up a mountain on a regular bike could be a lot of work. If you enjoy beautiful views this is the activity for you. The mountain offers an amazing view of the entire city of Barcelona. It is truly beautiful. Looking for things to do at night? Barcelona is the city that NEVEERRRRRR sleeps. If you thought New York City was, you got it all wrong! Party until the sun rises in Barcelona’s clubs I partied at Opium as well as Shoko - both these clubs were so much fun. Neither played that house fist pump music all night. They played a great variety of music - hip hop, top 40, afrobeats, reggaeton, you name it. The people are here to have fun. Make sure if you don’t want to be in a crowd of sweaty people that you get a table because the crowds here are absolutely insane.
