Aegina is a small island in Greece and we had a great experience. Although we stayed at a resort, even when we traversed the local area, we felt safe and did not get the feeling of being stared at. In the local town, the gyros are a must. We were mostly there for relaxation so although we did not try the nightlight, the views alone do not disappoint. There is not a wide array of taxis so just be mindful of times staying in the main restaurant area. We loved the experience and felt similar level of comfort when we were in Athens, although it is more of a city/touristy feel.
