Weed is legal in the Netherlands, just thought I’d get that out of the way first. First rule of business don’t walk in their cycling lane you will get told.
I enjoyed traveling on business but ended up at the Anne Frank museum and The Rijksmuseum, a lot of history there and not all good.
Saw the bridge that was blown up to keep the Nazis from crossing and the infamous “Red Light District” yep prostitution is legalized, unionized and, the area is always packed with swarms of people as the prostitutes sit in the window plying their wares.
Amsterdam was the home of a thriving Jazz scene with Ella, Max, Thelonius and other jazz greats playing there.
My favorite place to shop when in country is PAUW. Then off to Rotterdam. Did you know the Nazis bombed a significant amount of the city?
It’s a safe place for black people to visit full of things to do or just sit at a cafe like me and people watch while life passes you by!
Trip with my siblings— wonderful, fun, and safe! We didn’t experience any negative exchanges or tourist traps. People were respectful, insightful, and a bit flirty tbh.
It could simply be the grace of our American status, but people were mostly interested in the US election affairs than us existing as black tourist in their space. In fact much of their distain is directed toward English male— spring breakers?!!
Never had a bad experience. The locals, the food, the art, everything was wonderful. Super diverse city with incredible access and no limiting factors by language or race.
