We visited Antigua July 2024 for relaxation. We stayed at a Royalton property, right on the beach. It’s an all inclusive and has a few options to choose from. We booked an excursion through the property to do an Island Safari, which provided some history and took a scenic route to the British Harbor (great photo op), a Plantation (eek!) with Windmills and a colonial port. What was missing was any of the historical context around it.
We had the resort take us to the the “downtown” area and we bought some art, ate fresh Snapper and just walked around a bit. It’s an island town, so it’s meant to rest and swim. The spa at the resort was top notch, until they tried to sell us a bunch of products. Overall, it was a typical island, with great fresh seafood, beautiful beaches and relaxation. We left right before Carnival, so that may have been entertaining!

I went Antigua and stayed at GalleyBay resort. It was so nice, calm, and relaxing. The food was amazing (farm to table). Drinks were great. The rooms were clean, spacious, and most all facing the ocean . I woke up to the ocean each morning. The General Manager Is Black and he makes sure he is seen by guest. Small resort so they may cater to you is personal. Night entertainment is ok. But the over all experience is great for relaxation and foodies will enjoy. Not a party resort.

Antigua is one of the most beautiful islands I have ever visited. We were only there for 8hours during our cruise stop but we were able to do and see a lot! I recommend everyone one visit Stingray City! It was such a unique and exciting experience. Devil’s Bridge was beautiful, the history behind the name was sad yet fascinating. Long Bay Beach…. There aren’t even words to describe how beautiful this beach is. Long Bay is the reason I am planning my return trip to Antigua already! The whitest sand and clearest water, I can’t wait to go back and explore the rest of this beautiful slice of paradise!

I stayed at the Sandals Grande Antigua. It was one of the best resorts I have stayed at with a pristine beach, gourmet cuisine, unlimited water sports and Tuscan style suite overlooking the ocean. The Shopping was amazing in St. John. Shops are on St. Mary’s Street or High Street. You can find amazing department stores, souvenir shops and perfumes.

Although Antigua and Barbuda is not as popular as other Caribbean countries as far as visitation & vacationing, this country is very expensive. Great place to relax & enjoy multiple beaches but expect to pay a hefty price for the smallest of items. I met with some of my friends that live down there & had them tag along with me around the country so i wouldn’t be jerked out of money & their presence didn’t make a difference. Antigua (ec Eastern Caribbean money) currency rates are out of this world to the American dollar. Also, when you spend American money, do not expect American change to follow, they’re only returning ec currency unless you luck up at an excursion or someone may decide to give you American money back. Other than that, i enjoyed my stay at Antigua & Barbuda.

Resort wise I would highly recommend the Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa. I attended with a group of 500 people (CDEAntigua) and the hotel staff was very accommodating. As far as rates, I would recommend visiting their website for specials as I attended with #CDEAntigua and received exclusive rates.
CDE which stands for Collin Devon Events, is run by Dr. Collin Williams Jr, who is a tourism ambassador and dual citizen. What started as a graduation trip has developed into one of the best ways to experience Antigua. #CDEAntigua introduces young professionals of color to Antigua, and this year the Royalton housed our stay. They provided good attentive service, very nice and comfortable rooms and authentically outstanding food.

If finding the most spectacular view on the island is on your Antigua to-do list, then look no further than Shirley Heights Lookout. From this 490ft. high point, you will catch some pretty breathtaking panoramic views of Nelson’s Dockyard and both the English and Falmouth Harbours. I suggest either going early in the morning or during sunset to how the beautiful colors add to the scenery.

Antigua is great. Think about feeling instantly at home in a Caribbean country that is predominantly black. The good thing here is that it’s easy to get around once you book your travel arrangements. I traveled there through a package with Sunwing and used the Nexus tour company. Nexus is available in almost of the English speaking and Latin speaking Caribbean. They provide service from the airport and to your hotel and back to the airport. You are also able to purchase excursions through them. Check their website for prices and packages. I paid around $100 for my travel to and from the airport since the island is big and my hotel was far. As for the excursions I had done diving excursions for $100 through Nexus when I visited Cancun, Mexico.
The hotel was booked through Sunwing.ca and they had a special because they were brand new and opening. It was full of discounts and extra perks. About $1500 for the trip. Sunwing has a US based business called Vacation Express they also puts packages together for hotels, excursions and other activities. I would def recommend using them.
They picked me up from the airport then took me to an Amazon’s all inclusive hotel called Royalton Antigua. There I was showered with all in luxury and felt like I was treated like a celebrity. Then I got the chance to head into the island and learn more about the history and culture. The people were extremely laid back. Almost to the point where I thought they would just chill and watch time go back.
You feel at ease there and it’s a perfect escape to go if you’re feeling like you need a relaxation and the tranquil energy that the island evokes. I would go back. And in fact I’m booked for another trip.

Antigua was one of the most relaxing vacations that I’ve ever been on. There are so many beaches to choose from so you can go to a new beach every day. Antigua has 365 beaches! I highly recommended venturing off to the beaches that aren’t apart of a resort. I went on a catamaran tour around the island with Tropical Adventures Antigua which I highly recommend. The entire crew was very nice and such a good time. It cost $120 which includes lunch and an OPEN BAR! Sunday nights at Shirley Heights is a must! The sunset is so beautiful and the local restaurant throws a huge fete with live music and BBQ. Antigua is the perfect combination of relaxing and fun.

Antigua is my go to place when I want to relax and escape. It’s on of the few countries that offer everything I am looking for at a fraction of the price. Beautiful beaches, great food, amazing hotels, views, and the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Every beach is more stunning than the one before and everything is easy to accessible. Sheer Rock at Cocobay is one of the most beautiful places on the island. You could spend the whole day there eating good food, relaxing on their day beds, and the views are simply out if this world. One of the best things about Antigua is even exploring and getting around is easy and hassle-free, anything you want to do from hiking to zip-lining is easy and fun. The best trips are the ones that don’t cause any stress and Antigua is absolutely the place for that!

As everyone has said on here, the beaches in Antigua are lovely. I’ve been to different islands and have yet to see beaches that were similar to Antigua. I stayed at an all inclusive resort which had everything I needed to relax, enjoy food and entertainment. The only downside was constantly being approached by vendors while on the beach. This disturbed relaxation time a little but I wasn’t too upset, everyone was just trying to make a dollar. I visited St. John’s and it was booming with life, very busy but walkable. I did realize that getting around is a little challenging later in the night, taxis charge an additional fee, so if you can rent a car and handle narrow roads one would be fine.

I am from the Caribbean and I am still amazed at how beautiful the beaches are in Antigua. I plan on one day visiting all 360 of them, although I have only visited two of them thus far. The island is perfect for a weekend getaway but also convenient for a quick trip. The first time I visit I had a 5-hour layover. I left the airport, headed to the beach and relaxed before my next flight. Because of the size of the island and with beaches being almost everywhere, it is very easy to make the quick stop to the island.

Antigua is my home country and it is absolutely gorgeous! It is definitely a rare gem that most don’t know about. The beaches, the food, the people. Everything about this small island is everything I need in more for a relaxing vacation. My family is from all over the island with an emphasis on English Harbor. Antigua is one of the Caribbeans wealthiest countries, so be mindful of costs. It is a little more expensive than the normal go-to vacation islands like Jamaica.

Antigua is GORGEOUS!! The scenery and beaches are to die for. This is my favorite carribean island because the locals are incredibly nice, the island is SAFE, and there are over 300 beaches to visit. The food was good however the nightlife was lacking. We were usually tired from baking in the sun all day so we turned in early each night but I would have liked to experienced their party scene. I highly recommend Antigua for relaxation and adventure tours.

Antigua, omg what a beautiful Island. I didn’t go around carnival so it was a bit quiet but still a beautiful place to visit. I stayed in a beautiful and affordable airbnb. I was with a party of 10 and each of us paid $250 for the house which we stayed in for 4 nights and 4 days. I got a round trip ticket for $525. However, if booked in advance it could be cheaper. A few things I would recommend that you do when visiting Antigua is Shirley Heights (an amazing view overlooking Antigua), swimming with stingrays, horse back riding and jet skying. If none of these activities peek your interest, there’s still a list of others. A beautiful upslace restaurant that I visited was Pillars Reataurant. Great food with an amazing view. They offer Italian food, West Indian food and breakfast. Overall all I had a wonderful stay!

Antigua is a beautiful island that features over 365 white sandy beaches. Only 15 minutes into St. John’s where you can enjoy some authentic carribean food and mingle with the locals. You must visit Shirley Heights, very romantic views on Sundays and Thursday’s best nights. Only hour and 30min by cruise to their sister island Barbuda, whom has beautiful pink beaches. So many activities such as zip lining, snorkeling, horseback riding in water, jet ski etc. if you are a history buff, visit historical sites such as Devils Bridge. Will definitely visit again.
