Eritrea, Asmara is most known as the small country near Ethiopia. But it has a rich history. Its was colonized by Italy so the architecture have been ifluenced by italian style. And some of the older locals are fluent in italian. If you go outside of Asmara to massawa in the coast is a old town and a historical important port for many centuries, it was ruled by the Aksumite Empire, Abyssinia and the Ottoman Empire.
One thing that is good to know is that traveling to Eritrea can be hard sometimes when getting your visa application approved, so thats something to have back in your mind.
Also the country is not super developed when it comes to turism, so to find like tour groups and stuff like that can be hard.
