Caminha is a beautiful little city an hour outside of Porto, Portugal. It is about an hour drive from Porto Airport ( OPO) and a great little town if you would like to be close to a city for entertainment but would still like to enjoy the relaxation of quiet city. We were searching for beach cities in Portugal and found this gem. Caminha also borders Spain so you can hop on a ferry across the river to visit A Guarda Spain.
Caminha’s currency is in Euros and it was very affordable.
We were in Caminha during the summer months late August and early September and it was full of life and energy. Cafe’s were enjoyable and the food was AMAZING. If you enjoy Peri Peri/ Portuguese food you will enjoy the food in Caminha.
We stayed at the Hotel Porto Do Sol and there was a restaurant named Foz Do Minho. Best food we ate in Portugal. Excellent quality and service and a great view oh the Minho river. Highly recommended.
The beaches were packed. It felt like the beach was the place to be day in and day out. Moledo beach was our favorite. It was walking distance from the city or a 5 minute drive. Renting a car gives you the opportunities to see more cities. If you are in Portugal, we highly recommend visiting Caminha.
