If you’re in the UK, Wales is definitely a place you need to see ! It’s truly beautiful and super scenic.
A friend and I visited Wales on a whim, so it was quite a short trip and we just tried to do as much as possible, on a budget. We spent 4 days,3 nights in Wales, and I’d say that that’s a decent amount of time to see the main sights. So we split our trip into 3 parts ; The North, The South and Cardiff.
THE NORTH
Conwy Castle – a really pretty castle that extends over River Conwy. Since it’s in the harbour, you can walk around and get a feel for the place.
SMALLEST HOUSE – just a few steps away from the castle you can see the smallest house in the UK. You can pay to go inside, but as the name suggests there really isn’t much to it, so you could easily take a picture outside.
Llanfairpwllgwyngyll – the city with the longest name in the UK. Honestly, this is just for you to be able to take a picture with a sign on the railway station platform.
Given that our time was limited we didn’t get a chance to actually summit Snowdon (highest mountain in Wales), but we could easily walk/drive through Snowdonia. It is absolutely stunning.
THE SOUTH
PORTMEIRION – the cutest little city in Wales. You will think that you’re somewhere in Italy. It’s super colourful and the architecture is really pretty. They also have a student discount, which is helpful.
TENBY – quaint seaside town with colourful houses. In the summer it is really pretty and you could even dip your toes.
PEMBROKESHIRE NATIONAL PARK – the national park is on the coast and you have go on the most beautiful walks. There is also a sunflower field nearby which is spectacular in the spring/summer.
CARDIFF
CARDIFF CASTLE – you can walk around the castle grounds for free. There is a fee if you would like to enter the castle.
We spent the rest of the day exploring the city and getting some gifts from the local shops.
Wales is a great choice if you would love to explore a bit and be in a bit more of a laidback setting.
Wales is easily one of the most beautiful countries in the UK. I like to think of it as a hidden gem as not many people have heard of Wales. Cardiff is the main city in Wales, which is home to the Cardiff Castle, Principality Stadium, the national museum, and Cardiff Bay. Boat tours run regularly and last around 45 minutes to an hour. There is also the Cardiff Central Market, where you can buy souvenirs, and tradition Welsh baked goods and garments.
If you have time to journey away from the city, I suggest renting a car and driving to Tenby which is a hadbour town in southwest wales. Here you’ll see beautifully coloured row houses leading up to a cliff overlooking the whole beach. This view is incredible, and hard to believe it’s the UK. Tenby is known for their great fish & chips, fresh seafood like lobster and cockles, and their rock candy; you can even buy a candy English Breakfast!
Other places to visit in South wales include, caerphilly castle, castle coch, the “red” or “fairy castle”, Swansea Market, and more.
Wales is one of the most beautiful places in the UK. Beautiful country side and beautiful homes. I had the please of visiting Wales 3 times in 2018 and it was all beautiful experiences. I went To Cardiff saw the Cardiff castle which was beautiful I also visited The Pierhead building which is referred to as little Big Ben. Not sure if the history behind the building but it’s a pretty cool orange building and very picturesque and had loads of tourists like my self taking shots in front of it lol. Another place in Cardiff that I visited was Castle Coch which is the home for loads of weddings now but back then it was a 19th century Gothic revival castle built above the villages Tongwynlais in South Wales. There are beautiful cafes and little shops around Cardiff that are artsy and picturesque definitely a place to visit beautiful countryside and beautiful scenery. Traveling while black for me is a beautiful thing never experienced any type o racism while traveling in the UK. They are actually some of the most friendly persons I’ve met.
Wales is definitely a place you should visit. A place to visit is definitely portmerian village which is a little Italian style village in the UK, it’s very beautiful and by the sea with buildings that are different colours and beautiful statues and trees.
