Stayed at Cas Comte Suites & Spa https://www.cascomte.com/. It’s a boutique hotel in Lloseta, Mallorca. It’s about 30min from PMI Airport. The taxi was about $52. The taxis accept euros & cards. The train station is a 5min walk from the hotel. It takes you to Palma, Mallorca for 3.60€ one way. You can pay for the train with card or cash at the kiosk. You can also pay online at https://www.tib.org/en/inici & you will get a QR code.

As a black woman I felt safe during my stay. The hotel staff were nice & made me feel welcome. They answered my questions & always greeted me daily. I felt safe walking around at night either to/from restaurants or from the train station. I saw a few black people in Palma, where most of the people seem to be. I got a few stares throughout my trip but that was expected. Maybe because they never saw a beautiful black woman up close.

Because we chose to stay on the popular side of the island during off season, we spent most of our time traveling to secret beaches. The two beaches I recommend seeing are Cala Santanyi and Cala de Moro. The water is so clear and if go snorkeling you can see the fish swimming. There were more people at Cala Santanyi but Cala de Moro wasn’t as crowded.

If you’re looking for a cheap getaway THIS IS THE IDEAL GETAWAY! Four nights is the average time spent on vacation in Malorca. This was my first holiday out of UK and I absolutely enjoyed it with friends. Malorca is really cheap and cheerful with a cocktail or glass of wine costing just £3! You will see many Brits here as it’s very close to the UK. The ethnicities are very diverse so you will see w lot of Black Brits, local Spanish tourists and other European countries too. Not as many other continents as Europe. An hotel for four nights can easily find an all inclusive package for £300 – 400 offering all meals and drinks including alcohol. Travelling within Europe is also very cheap, for example, from UK you can find a round trip flight for just £40! Very cheap!

I visited Mallorca in July of 2017. I only stayed for a weekend after visiting my friends in London. One thing I enjoyed the most here was the food! I am a pasta and seafood person. I can eat them both all the time. Their food was so rich and authentic to me! Every time I sat down at a restaurant there was a live musician playing whether it was a violin or guitar there were people always singing and playing music which I thought added a bit of romance to each meal.

Although I was here for a short time, I would recommend traveling here if you’re looking for a little romance.

Do you like island vibes and the Spanish culture? Then you’ll have to visit Mallorca! Mallorca is a Spanish island, where you can really enjoy the modern and traditional Spanish culture. Mallorca has the most beautiful untouched beaches. Food and drink prices are reasonable; you could have fancy meals under 10 euros. I went in October of 2018, and the weather was nice (around 23 degrees Celsius). I would suggest going a bit earlier than October if you really like warm weather.

The airport of ‘Palma de Mallorca’ isn’t that big. The handling of baggage went pretty fast. We’ve arranged a transfer to our accommodation because we were with a bigger group. Taxi’s are pretty cheap as well. The transfer brought us to Santa Ponca, that is were we’ve stayed. This city was a smaller city about 10 minutes by taxi away from the capital Palma. Staying in a smaller city was relaxing: if we wanted the busyness, we were just 10 minutes away.

Things to do: If you have the time, make sure to book a kayak experience from the harbor of Santa Ponca. Kayak at the coast of Mallorca and visit the UNESCO world Heritage site: Sierra de Tramuntana: One of the most gorgeous sites I’ve ever seen! I’ve booked al my excursions via GetYourGuide, this is a trusted app/website. Do you like liquor? Try the islands own ‘Túnel’ shots. Visit Palma de Mallorca to see the beautiful old buildings and do some sightseeing.

Accomodation: My hotel was THR Jardín del Mar. This hotel was 1 minute away from a taxi station. This hotel had multiple ‘private’ beaches.

Travelling while black: Coming originally form the Caribbean, the Spanish culture really hits home. People are warm, and I felt like I was a part of the community. The fact that I can speak Spanish was an advantage, because when visiting the more traditional eateries, the locals cannot communicate in English. Also, the food comes close to home: make sure to try paella before you leave Mallorca!

All by all: Warm weather, warm people, delicious food and untouched nature.
