Mozambique is so relaxing and has a vast amount of beaches to visit.
We took a road trip down to Mozambique from South Africa and happened to be a longer drive than expected because once you cross the borders into Mozambique there are serious speeding limits that need to be adhered to that will slow down the Journey.

We stayed at Catembe Gallery Hotel which is on a separate island that requires a ferry from Maputo. This hotel is so chic and relaxing and best Mozambican meals of prawns and chickens. Of course when in Mozambique you must enjoy some R & R Raspberry and Rum. So Delicious and great to enjoy by the pool and the beach .

We then later drove down to Inhambane down the coast of Mozambique and stayed at Hotel Casa Capitao , very posh hotel and full of old people. After some exploring we found an awesome young and vibrant “hotel” with people around the world and with a bar which was a jam. In that moment we wished we had stayed at MOZAMBEAT . But as always traveling is about experience and learning for the next time , now we know where to stay. The night life in Inhambane is blast to be honest and the beach and the markets are a great experience to have.

Mozambique is a very relaxing destination with beaches, night life and TIPO TINTO (best RUM in Africa).

We went to visit Maputo city center, while our Safari trip in south Africa Kruger park.
Please note that you may spend sometimes at the borders (2 to 3 hours) to get the visa to enter in Mozambique, so it’s not always worthy to go for just one day.
Maputo central market which is the “Mercado municipal” is a great place for people who like Art craft, African traditional clothes, spices, fresh food. You can also take some time to meet local people.
We stayed there almost 2H but I was frustrated to go, there are so many things so see it’s a real African market. We went to the Central place and visited the CFM Museum (Camihos de ferro), it was very interesting.
Travel while black was cool, people were very nice.

Mozambique as a whole is a beautiful country however the damage of the civil war is still evident in the streets of Maputo.
Having grown up in Swaziland , Maputo was close enough to travel to for Sunday lunch and this is actually what we did. Maputo is a port town and the metropolis is quite bustling with a lot of influences from the former Portuguese settlers. Maputo is famous for their seafood and the fact that this is a port city ensures the seafood is always fresh. Costa do Sol is a great place and you should definitely make a stop there.

The Maputo fish market is a great place for fresh seafood, however, brace yourself as the smell isn’t delightful at all.

The Fortaleza of Maputo is a musuem which houses the war relics. The visit is worth it and you will be able to fully understand the history of Mozambique as a whole and understand the cost of their independence.

Independence Square is a good pit stop when you’re in Mozambique. The square is located in the middle of a huge intersection and there is a huge statue of Samora Machel.

Overall Maputo isn’t too costly. However, I wouldn’t say that there is much romance in Maputo. If you are looking for idyllic beaches then it is best to head to the north of Mozambique.

Mozambique ?? was so nice. I definitely fell in love ?.

What to do in Mozambique! From Maputo (south of Mozambique) to Ibo (north of Mozambique)

Maputo is the capital, it’s nice to stay there for like 3 days. You can do many things: visit the central Mercado, xipamamine, casa del feel, costa do sol, tunduru garden.

Tofo it’s a city on the coast in Inhambane province. Pria do tofo it’s nice you have a lot of restaurants, local food and of course sea food it’s amazing there. You also have a nice spot to dive.
This place is very safe at all time.

Vilankulos it’s a nice city on the coast, I had a great time there. It’s a very safe place, people are very friendly the food is also amazing.
You must visit the Bazaruto island. This island is just amazing you are in the middle of the ocean with dunes looking like you are in the middle of a desert. It was so special. Very nice to do.
You should do some snorkeling at Two mile reef. You can see so many fishes.

Ilha de Mozambique it’s a very nice island to visit if you have time left. It’s very safe the population is very welcoming. The food is amazing there.
You have some mosques to visit there. You also have the Fort Seo Sebastian to visit to discover the culture of Mozambique.

Ilha de Ibo was my last stop and I had an amazing time there. You can actually do all of this island by walk. The sea food is amazing. I used to eat to Roccoe’s restaurant. I got a fried calamari, omg the best so far.
From ibo you can go to quirimbas by walk you need to walk in the mangrova for like 2 hours but it’s a very nice walk. Of course don’t forget about your water ?. Quirimbas was so beautiful. When the ocean is low because of the tide you can swim in a warm lagon. This was just wow.

I hope you will enjoy your time in Mozambique.

I completely fell inlove with Mozambique. We stayed at the Coco Rico Resort in Ponto do Ouro and it was stunning! I think what stood out most for me was how absolutely AMAZING the food was – especially the seafood. The locals are humble and friendly and I felt completely safe wandering the sandy streets. There’s not much of a nightlife as the pubs shut down very early but there’s loads to do during the day. Pub hops by quad, snorkelling and swimming with the dolphins to name but a few.

I recently went on an adventurous road trip to Tofo, Inhambane Province in Mozambique from South Africa.
We satyed at Barra Beach club which is a luxury hotel with a private beach.
Mozambique is known for its delicious seafood, especially prawns, so I would definitely recommend you try out some seafood while there.
We also went quad biking around Tofo village which was alot of fun!
Tofo is known for its crystal clear waters with huge Manta rays, dolphins and whale sharks. I would also recommend snorkeling, spear fishing and scuba diving while in Tofo!
