Stay at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge run by Sarova Hotels. https://www.sarovahotels.com/shabalodge-samburu/safari-experiences.html. Food was incredible a taste of Kenya and more. Fine for Black travelers, men and women. Met a group of Kenyan women there too. Game Drives will take you between the Shaba National Reserve and Samburu National Park where you will see from lions, perhaps lucky enough like I was to see the leopard and cubs! There are also big herds of elephants and the special species of Zebra known as the grevy and also the reticulated giraffe. If brave enough dip your feet into the water at the Sarova Shaba Game Lodge for a “fish foot therapy” yes the fish nibble all the dead skin off your feet! I did it, though not for the faint of heart:) You can also book spa treatments or just chill by the pool or go for a nature walk. Yes I would go back! Before you go, make sure to read or listen to podcast of Joy Adamson’s “Born Free” and “Living Free” or watch the film of the Adamsons story in “To Walk with Lions”. The Samburu National Reserve is a game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro river in Kenya. The park is 165 km² in size and is situated 350 kilometers from Nairobi. It ranges in altitude from 800 to 1230m above sea level. Although Samburu is smaller than other national parks its a Kenyan must see due to the game it has. Some of the most beautiful and unique animals in the world. Some of these include the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx .
Samburu is also the home of Kamunyak the Miracle Lioness that adapted the baby Oryx.
