Tulsa was a good experience, stayed at the Osage casino hotel. Close to the airport, good food and the stay was comfy. Downfall is all the smoking in the casino can be a bit much. When in Tulsa it’s a must to go check out Greenwood “Black Wall Street”

Traveling While Black
Tulsa is a stop on a long road trip for my family. We stayed at the Downtown Hyatt. Vicki at the lobby desk was just a delightful woman! She greeted us with a genuine smile and kindness at checkin and was there in the morning with the same energy at 8am checkout. Everyone, even the morning guests at breakfast made the place feel welcoming. We stopped quickly at Reconciliation Park. My personal thoughts… the park, and Tulsa for that matter, acknowledge the violence of the Tulsa Massacre. But, the story is told through the skewed lens that, it was everyones fault. And that is not the lens through which I view this little piece of American history. That said, as an artist, I loved and admire the sculptural work at the park. And it was cool to be able to talk about it with my kids. On the way out, we stopped at Fulton Coffee and Bookstore. We loved the vibe in this Block owned/Woman owned spot. I left with a renewed hope of what our people can do unhindered by the institutional obstacles placed in our path.
