Cozumel is nice. It’s known for its snorkeling and you can just walk out from your hotel and snorkel. We stayed at the El CID resort, not too far from the airport. We were within walking distance to downtown. The resort had a nice breakfast spread and we ate at local eateries for dinner. You can catch a ferry that’ll take you to Riviera Maya, which has silver shops where you can bargain, what they call 5th Avenue and local fare cuisine. Prices in Mexico are never unreasonable. We also visited a tequila tasting spot and made a few purchases. This was a girls trip, long weekend and much needed. Overall Cozumel is quiet and relaxing and felt very safe and easy to get around.
I only stopped here briefly during a cruise port stop. It was over 10 years ago and I was only there for the day so I can’t say a lot. There are lots of shops but I advise traveling further away from the coast because the prices are high for the cruise crowd. A man tried to charge me almost gold prices for silver.Just a short walk further in brings you to more local shops with much lower prices. I hope to come back here again to explore further I can only go so far because I have to be back before my boat left.
I went there with a cruise so I only spend the day.
I really like Cozumel, people were nice.
We didn’t have much time there so we went to
“San Gervasio Mayan Archaeological Site” and to “FREE TEQUILA TOUR BY CASA MISSION” you will learn how they do their tequila and you will have degustation for free.
Then we went back to “plaza punta langosta ” we ate at ‘Taco tequila ‘ and did some shopping.

Cozumel is probably one of our favorite places to visit. We already know exactly where we want to go and get good food. That at Tequila Beach Club. The food is AMAZING fresh and delicious! Drink are yummy and not expensive. We had the entire beach to ourselves for the first 3 hours while we was there. Highly recommended others to visit/stay as well. Ig: miseanclaron
I just got back from the most epic bachelorette party trip ever! Cruised from Tampa fl to Cozumel Mexico! This was a carnival cruise ship ? called paradise. When we got off the ship quickly learned that the beaches were 20 minutes away from the port. A local sold us a package that Included round trip to beach and back to port, snorkeling and a tequila tour (free shots) for $35. Look for Martin near Fat Tuesdays he has the hook up!
Cozumel was a stop on my cruise, but there is a good bit of history worth visiting again, The people were nice, and the food was great. We didn’t do any of the expensive cruise excursions. We explored the city on our own and enjoyed the beach. This is a place worth revisiting without a cruise.
Things to do:
-Shopping
-Beaches
-Aquatic Parks
-Scuba Diving
-EAT LOCAL!!!
Cozumel was the last stop on a cruise and got off to do excursions but we ended up just touring the city. It was very nice and quaint with great local food and kind people.
Alberto’s Beach Bar is a must for food and really great drinks!! The prices were very reasonable and we had more than enough to fill our bellies. Freshest lobster tails ever! The Lobster Shack is excellent as well (see the theme here…clearly, i love lobster ?)Overall, it was a very laid back place that we felt very comfortable visiting for the day.
Cozumel was dope! On the NCL cruise tour, this was one of my stops. I booked one of the private island excursions. I got off the ship and got on another boat and was taken 20 minutes away. Here on the island lunch was included and they had a “water carnival” I should say which consisted of many floating objects to climb on and hop off of. They also had plenty of hammocks and beach chairs. For lunch they had an all you can eat taco bar. If on NCL I would for sure recommend booking this excursion in Cozumel.
Cozumel was a blast! It was the last stop on our Norwegian Cruise and I would definitely go back. We took an ATV tour through the jungle and made a stop at Jade Cavern along the way. It was an amazing adventure and I would do it again! After the ATVing we visited Playa Mia and hung out at the beach. It was pretty crowded but we had full access to all the chairs and water sports included with our tour. We were able to find some chairs under a tree to relax a little before we got in the water. I was able to take a ride on a water tricycle for the first time. They also had kayaks, jetskis, parasailing and many other water activities available. We had to get back to the boat so we weren’t able to try everything. But it is definitely worth a visit if you are in Cozumel.
Just got back from a girls trip in Conzumel Mexico . It had a great time !!!!. It was 5 nights cruise ( Carnival cruise ) it left from NOLA . The cruise was about $400 because it was three of us . Before I went on the cruise I went to Bourbon St. In NOLA which never disappoints. The boat had a lot of fun activities which I truly enjoyed except for on our way back the boat was rocking and people were puking Lol. In Conzumel , I went to Dolphinaris and swim with Dolphins for the first time which I truly enjoyed. That was on my bucket list for the longest. The excursions came with all you can eat food and drinks alcoholic and nonalcoholic . They also told us we can snorkel and paddle board for free but we didn’t do it cause the wait time was just too long lol . The next stop was Progreso, Yucatán which is a historical place so I had the opportunity to go on a tour of where the local people lives and purchased souvenirs from local vendors . The entire trip was affordable. I would totally recommend.
I traveled to Cozumel, Mexico on 2 different occasions via Carnival Cruiselines.
The first time to Cozumel was an all girls turn-up trip. The excursions we selected allowed us to snorkel and take underwater pictures, parasail, cruise around Cozumel city on scooters to sightsee, and sample some authentic Mexican food. It was fun but if I had to decide I would choose my second time over the first because those activities on the first trip you can do anywhere with a beach.
When I went back a second time with Bae I wanted to experience more of Mexico’s history with the Mayan ruins and make it more of an enlightening, romantic trip to distinguish Mexico from other travel destinations. You had to take a separate boat over to the giant Mayan ruins on my mainland because Cozumel is only a Mexican island. Be sure to sign up as soon as possible because the big Mayan ruins sell out because of limited seating, do not want to be stuck with the small, baby Mayan ruins, you will be disappointed). Nonetheless, the giant ruins were amazing and intriguing and is the best excursion to do if you travel to Cozumel, Mexico to get a true Mexican experience.
I went here as part of a cruise 2 times. I went on a party boat snorkeling trip and visited San Gervasio ruins in 2013. There are plaques with explanations at the sites. It was hot, so be sure to take something to drink and a fan. There are iguanas everywhere. In August, I took my niece to a Josefina’s cooking school. We walked to the market for fresh ingredients and helped prepare several Mexican dishes (quesadillas, refried beans, guacamole, chicken in mole sauce, cucumber pineapple salad, and more) in the home of a local. She was very nice and everything was delicious. We also went to Discover Mexico Park to make chocolate, learn about Mexican culture, and paint an alebrije. The chocolate making was not worth it, but the alebrije was fun. The cultural explanations were a little too long for my 9 year old niece.
Cozumel is very laid back, so if you have relaxing in mind then I suggest you do a few days here. You will not get much of a night life, and in my opinion, you will not get a variety in terms of food options.
On this trip we snorkeled the second largest barrior reef and Starfish bay, ate at a place named Paprika almost every day , hung out at and Mr. Sancho’s Beach Club. We also went over to Playa Del Carmen by ferry a few days. The highlight of our trip was going to the ruins of Tulum and to Xel-Ha. If you like water like we do check out this tour, it will not disappoint.
Went to Cozumel for relaxation and to enjoy the beach and I must say the water was beautiful! Spend most of time relaxing by the beach and snorkeling! The water was so blue! I loved every bit of it! It is a great place to enjoy your other half, relax and eat good food! I will definitely go again!
Extremely fun! Try the tequila tours! We rented scooters and rode around the island to each tequilia farm and tasted the best tequilas I’ve ever had. Visit bob marleys favorite beach (Reggae Beach)! Cheap and good liquor (we bought a bottle of don julio from the bar), ate fried snapper, and drank on the beach. Great time!
Señor frogs is another great spot to visit in Cozumel. We sat on the outside patio that over looks the water. Great view and great drinks. Right off the patio is an inflated “playground” we ate drank and played like kids! Great experience & memorable staff. Would definitely return.
Went with a group on a cruise to Cozumel and had the time of my life! I loved the cruise itself. I’m an ocean baby and the water relaxed me. When we arrived to the island we sat on the beach with unlimited drinks and food from Mr. Sanchos hotel. I was able to shop and grab some gifts before heading back on the boat. The islanders was fun and welcome me as well with photos and gifts. This is a much try cruise if you haven’t.
If your looking for relaxation vibes Cozumel is the place to be! Many times often cruises come to Cozumel but if your down to explore more of Mexico you can take a 40min ferry ride to Playa Del Carmen for more shopping, nightlife, and great local food. Cozumel is known for its beaches and great scuba diving!!!
