I live about 20 minutes from Middleburg and I’m there all the time. It’s a small quiet town with a ton of wealthy equestrian families. The Salamander resort is there at it is a black woman owned 5 star resort. I believe it was the only one when it was opened. Anyway it’s a great place to check out even if you aren’t staying there. It’s expensive but you can always Try the spa and the spa comes with several amenities including access to the spa pool and hot tub which are both heated.
Sometimes I just grab a drink at the bar and sit out in the lawn and relax. It’s a great place to get some peace and quiet. Star gazing is amazing here too. They also host “ The family reunion” event each year and if you can afford it then it is worth every penny!
There are several wineries and breweries in the surrounding area because Middleburg is in the heart of VA wine country. There are also parks and hiking trails. Sky meadows state park is cool if you like hiking. It’s a 20-30 minute drive.
Middleburg is about an hour outside of DC and the best airport to fly into would be Dulles (IAD). There are not a ton of hotels in Middleburg. It’s not a very commercialized place. It’s very old school like a town on a western movie however the folks are nice and I have never had any problems. King street oyster bar is a great place to eat.

If you have the opportunity to stay at the Salamander Collection in Middleburg, Virginia, definitely don’t hesitate. From the decor, to the food and staff, my stay was really comfortable and pleasant. Around the area are other wineries that one can visit for a small fee. The Salamander is owned by Shelia Johnson and she doesn’t disappoint on the details and experience one has. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The spa services are amazing as well. Take a nice short staycation there and enjoy yourself. Take in some really nice air and enjoy the stars by the fire pit.
The Salamander is a 30 minute drive from Dulles Airport. It’s Black and woman owned.
