Please beware of Courtyard Greenhills on Bedford in Green Hills, TN.
A few weeks ago, my wife was terminated from this property under circumstances of clear discrimination. Since recent management changes particularly with the arrival of new supervisors and managers the environment has become hostile and prejudiced. The African American staff has declined by nearly 80% , and my wife, the last African American in the back office, who was recently fired after speaking up against injustice. Keep in mind this is a small staff of roughly 20 people at this property.
Here’s the background, the street Bedford in Green Hills is named after Nathan Bedford Forrest, the first leader of the Ku Klux Klan. Disturbingly, this hotel has event and meeting rooms also named after him. When my wife raised these concerns to the GM, Nicole, and Assistant general manager Rusty, she was fired after two days. Side note, A previous manager who raised similar concerns also resigned after being told the names would not be changed my Nichole.
This is not just about one employee it’s about a culture of discrimination that should not be ignored. I strongly urge anyone considering staying or hosting events here to think twice before supporting a business that tolerates this behavior. The purpose of this new management is to dismantle all African American and harness the dark history Bedford road.
My family and I are moving to Pennsylvania and we stop in Nashville Tennessee at a best western plus!! The staff was amazing but there are definitely a few racist people here. We were met by rude and scary looks and people recording my husband. The staff definitely intervened and made sure we were safe.
Just wanted to let everyone know what you can expect in Nashville Tennessee!!!
[Days Inn by Wyndham Airport Nashville East] The front desk was nice and helpful. The pool and area around the pool were clean, and the water was lovely and cool. Just a reminder pay deposit in cash so you don’t have to wait.
Went to the Grand Ole Opry and outlets. It was extremely crowded so be careful to watch which days you go so that you can enjoy your stay. It’s a lot of walking and you want to get there early to get good parking.
We went on day 10 of our road trip, which was a Saturday. Probably not the best choice. the mall is huge and has every store you can think of plus more. Very ethnic friendly environment. We saw a little bit of everyone there. the food was okay as well. Plenty of choices.
If you’re interested in seeing some beautiful gardens or enjoying a water park. The Gaylord National Hotel was just next store. It’s all inside of a dome so regardless of the weather you can enjoy yourself. Parking was about $37 alone to start but the atmosphere was great and a must see. There are waterfalls and bridges, restaurants, candy stores and ice cream shops inside. Something for everyone. Also a great family oriented place and very black friendly.
Had a great experience loves the atmosphere, people, places and things to do delicious food! To know is to travel..

Soul Antioch is a black owned restaurant. The salmon croquettes are delicious and mouth watering. There is plenty of free parking. This is a DJ atmosphere. The service can be a little slow at times. The owner has said negative comments about black women.
Me and my family went to Nashville for Thanksgiving. It was a fun time. We found a lot of black owned restaurants that we went to the food was delicious. Also, we found a lot of art murals in the urban area
Nashville is a music city. The highlight of my trip was the National Museum of African American Music! I did not know this place existed, but it was amazing! Additional shout-out to the musicians hall of fame museum. The food was decent, but actually disappointing for a southern city. Unfortunately, this could have been the places we found. Public transportation is not great and the city is not as walking friendly as I usually like in my trips. I was definitely aware that I was black with some stares, but I didn’t fear for my safety.
This is review 4 of 7 in a group of writings I call, “Outside the Sunshine State, a
Californian’s perspective of the US” . These cities I have all visited and some I
even spent a few years in. The reviews are from my perspective as an outsider
coming into a new place. As with all of my reviews I hope they help someone on
their travels, now, without further delay, let’s get started. This review I can
only talk to it as a person who has visited but I will say that my family and I had
no trouble and those who we interacted with seemed to be friendly. Maybe,
there is someone who is local who could give a more accurate read on the
natives of Nashville.
Family-friendly outings to do.
You’ll see a nice amount POC, in the city of Nashville they even having a
music museum for POC dating from before slavery to modern music if you want to visit.
Broadway & 5th street is a popular area, if you want to have fun and go out to eat (in the city).
Some hotels have POC concierges who are nice(home 2 suites by Hilton is one).
Soul is black owned restaurant (highly recommended)!
But overall a good fit for POC.
Nashville is a two hour drive from my hometown and three hours from Memphis. It is famous for its country music scene. I once told a coworker that I grew up in TN and he got so excited asking about if I went Dolly Parton’s amusement park called Dollywood which is about 3 hours away. As you head from west Tennessee towards east you will notice the increase in elevation due to the Appalachian Mountains. I like Nashville because it gives a different sensation compared to Memphis. I don’t like country music so I don’t really visit much but if that’s your thing you cant go wrong with Nashville.
Went for a concert a few years ago. Long weekend trip. Food is amazing! Visited the Grand Ole Opry, a soul food restaurant near Fisk U, Fisk U (my mom went there) and Broadway, which is like the main drag. Get bbq and soul food!
Definitely check out Fable, a great place to get a drink!
BETA TEST
Nashville was amazing, a quick get away from Georgia where I reside. I hopped in my car, filled up on gas, and drove down. It took under 4 hours to reach my destination. I booked an Airbnb Private Room at BentoLiving Chestnut Hill, (which turned out to be a hotel) really nice. Super clean, they had breakfast every day and a little bodega store inside with groceries if you wanted to use the shared space to cook or just have a snack. I paid $296 for 3 days and two nights. Lastly, they had live rooftop music every night. Very nice ambiance, I would recommend.
Around the city, there is so much to see! You must try their Nashville hot chicken, hit up broadway street for your country culture paradise, and stop at their countless photo ops in the city.
