I went to Ponta Delgada in October 2019. The temperatures were still summer. I saw the Lagoa do Fogo. It is a lake located in the crater of a volcano in the center of Sao Miguel. It’s simply sublime. Just after that, I went to bathe in the hot springs which are below the lake. The place is incredible. There are several pools from 28 to almost 40 degrees. A unique place in the middle of ferns.
Admission is chargeable. You can take either the entry only (3 €), or the entry + swimming (8 €), which of course I recommend to do. However, it is not great so if you see too many cars parked in the parking lot, come back at another time. The city of Furnas is known for its fumaroles and hot springs. I liked walking around and going to see the fumaroles that are in the city. In the Azores there is a tea plantation. I enjoyed walking around the plantations, it’s wonderful. Their green tea is very good.
Gorreana Cha, an old factory that you can visit freely. I have been to the thermal baths of Ferraria but I could not take advantage of the swimming pool because it was closed. However, I observed a magnificent sunset. Specialty c is baked octopus with vegetables. It’s very good. I recommend. When I got there I took a car to the airport because it is impossible to visit the island without a car.
