I was in Queenstown for 2 days which was a packed itinerary.
Day one was me exploring the city aka downtown where everything is such as:
Fergburger- The infamous burger spot in Queenstown- It was worth it
Skyline Queenstown- It has the Gondola to a panoramic restaurant. A bar, hiking trails for Bob’s Peak & a luge ride down.
Flames- Dinner- South African Restaurant that specialize in Ribs and steak
Day 2
Onsen thermal Pool- choice of indoor or outdoor with a view
Skyline Queens land again- The Luge ride
Had lunch at Sals which is a New York pizza spot- As a Newyorker, I cosign
Below Zero Ice Bar- I had a drink. It comes with a jacket, gloves and a complimentary cocktail/mocktail
The Locker Room Sports Bar- Dinner here and watched the UFC fight. If you like wings, Wednesday is 50 cents wings.
Uber is very expensive especially from the airport so the best way to get around is to take the bus which runs every 15 mins and its $5 NZD which is $3.13 USD. It runs in the city as well for $2 NZD
So Queenstown is the ultimate destination for outdoor stuff. It is known as the adventure capital of the world. My time was limited but I made the most of it. Queenstown accommodations can be expensive.
I stayed at the Youth Hostel Association Lake Front. It is a short walk to the downtown. THINGS TO DO: Bungy Jump from the third highest platform in the world. Check ya boy out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChpuxNzJJ7Q
I recommend getting the combo package and do two jumps. One at the tallest spot and one over the water. Next, the Luge! This is very fun and I recommend doing it at least 5 times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHKDJO0wQ_8 There a few local hikes that are very easy and cool to do. Queenstown Hill and Ben Lemond offer some amazing views. Sunshine Bay track is nice and flat around the bay for the novice hiker. Eat a burger from Ferburger. Pretty good. There are some pretty cool bars to hang at chill in Queenstown. My personal favorite was Bardeux. Grab an old-fashioned and kick back by the fireplace. Be sure to walk around. They have a cool Botanical Garden to stroll around and relax. DO NOT be lazy like me and not make it to Milford Sound. You will regret it!!! Rent a car, take a tour bus or helicopter. If you have 10 or more days, catch a flight to Auckland. The Bay of Islands is amazing but may require a separate trip. I did not do any of this but my friends have. TRAVELING WHILE BLACK: Non-issue in Queenstown. People were chill, polite, and minding their own business. My bag was checked at the airport and it was the most pleasant experience ever. The security guy was overly nice.
