I was only in Slovakia for a couple hours en route from Prague to Budapest via train. It’s similar to other Central European countries. Affordable. We passed through Bratislava, it was night, so not too much to see. The train station is very nice and the people we encountered were equally nice. I’d pass through again and stay longer.
Bratislava, was definitely affordable. Things are relatively cheap and still able to do a lot. I mainly wanted to visit because a friend of mine was from this area, and wanted to understand a bit more about where she came from and the stories she shared. It has a good amount of history, as you can tell by now, I really enjoying bringing history to life in the places I visit. So I recommend the walking tours: http://www.befreetours.com/free-tours/. I did the Free City and Castle Walking Tour and Free Communism tour.
I also did a day trip to Vienna.
I think a day or 2 is good for Bratislava, but may return to see another city in the future.
