Rest stop to get snacks gas food at Love station on my way to Memphis. Don’t let the name full you No Love for black or brown . Remember older white lady trying to bump into me intentionally while I was going to cash register. I’m on a megabus so I hurrying up to get back in bus. I get in line she behind just staring trying to intimidate me . Didn’t work I looked back at her like don’t even try me look 🤨I’m not the one. With that said the energy driving thru Mississippi as black even on a bus I didn’t feel safe I remember seeing state troopers and local county police sitting near exits as bus drive thru at 85 miles and hour. Those of you traveling in car as a black person all of Mississippi is not a safe place to be after dark particularly on the interstate. There are no highway lights completely dark woods thru most of Mississippi . I was ok on a bus with fifty plus passengers. My advice to black brown beige don’t speed and get pulled over at all. Don’t give the police a reason to pull yout black ass over period. However Vicksburg is a nice place for blacks and Meridian due to military base. Stay safe on these highways
I went to take a certification test there. The people were friendly or aloof but not hostile. I stayed in a budget hotel (Comfort Inn), which was not great because it smelled like smoke, and the breakfast wasn’t good. I ate at Dairy Kween, which was good. Not a lot of us down there, but fine. I can’t attest to what it’s like to be out and about at night because I didn’t do that.
