A Little About Me:
I’m Marcus and I love to travel, I hope and plan to touch every country at least once.. even if I have to use one of North Korea’s tunnels just to say I visited ?
Didn’t really do much while there, it’s very expensive. I have a lot of airline friends from Qatar so we would go out a lot for dinner. A lot of American restaurants. Sorry not much help this time but still a beautiful country
I took my brother to Havana with some of our friends last year for his bachelor party. One thing I can say is definitely check out veradero beach. It’s about a couple of hours drive outside of Havana but the city is nice and the night life is better. Definitely suggest staying a day or two
The thing I love about Costa Rica is there are so much things to do outdoors. Me and my boys went for my bday back in 2015 we went down south to quepos a lot of atv tours hiking waterfalls plantain fields and canopy tours you really can’t go wrong in Costa Rica when it comes to exploring the jungle
Me and my boys went down for a bachelor party and we booked a home about 45 mins from copa cabana not knowing how far it was from everything. In our situation we wanted to be in the center of the party. So we booked a penthouse in copa cabana. Everything was so much more convenient and a lot of good eats around the area walking distance I suggest if your there to party copa cabana is the way to go!
I suggest watching David Bordains Netflix episode first before going. The food is a absolute must here and it’s so good! Also exploring the Gardens by the Bay at night is stunning! I suggest going during Christmas time. They do a lot of extra stuff to that makes it a better show. I also suggest the boat hotel rooftop pool. View of the whole city and the panoramic pool view is just one of a kind!
I think Vietnam might be a top of my favorite places I’ve visited. Hoi An is just 30 minutes away as well and you must do the Hoi An basket boat tour. Also the Golden Hands bridge is a must in Da Nang. It’s a long way up the tram but is so worth it. In Da Nang they have the Dragon Bridge. I suggest going on the weekend so that you can see it spit fire. The show starts at 8pm and ends quickly so get there early cause the street gets packed! As far as visiting the Golden hand bridge, I went as early as possible which was 8am ticket was about $30 if I can remember correctly. You take a tram from a bottom of hill up to the hands. Also if your lucky and book in advance there is a hotel up there and you can go at any time to the hands bridge. Also some mornings the fog is deep so most tours start at 9 am and the skies clear around noon.
Not a lot of people know about it, but a must when i visiting Bangkok is Maeklong RailRoad. It’s about an hour outside of Bangkok and trust me it’s very interesting. It’s a food market built along the railway. And every 30- hour a train comes through and the market owners have to pull back there tents and it becomes a huge photo-op. Definitely suggest it and trying to the local food!
I’m going to give my opinion as a solo traveler to Bali Do it! I loved every bit of it, you meet so many travelers like yourself. Creatives who has made Bali there home. That being said I suggest staying in Canggu and migrating around from there renting a scooter. Of course you should definitely spend the night in Ubud but your primary for meeting other explorers like yourself definitely should be in canggu. It’s also the party city
I know it’s almost a must to take a private boat or ferry when visiting the almafi coast.. but I kid u not taking the scooter may have been my favorite route to the coast .. literally riding along the coast is the most amazing views you could see and taking stops along the way is almost a true must! I personally use Rome2rio to navigate how I want to gauge my trip it gives you many options for taking routes and gives u prices as well I would take the ferry to Sorrento from Naples to get that view then rent a scooter along the coast to Positano if you got days stay a night at each if possible
Took a Ryanair flight down to Shannon Ireland and rented a car to go see the cliffs of moher. Heads up drones can’t be flown here and there are signs to stay away from the edge of the cliff but the views are so breathtaking you can easily spend 2-3 hours here going to both sides of the from the entrance. But you could spend a good amount of time just reflecting and enjoying the views
Rome just has so much history and seeing and knowing what your looking at is amazing everything is close or a $10 taxi ride from each other if that if you have time i would suggest 2-3 days in Rome to really enjoy everything from the Vatican to the coliseum to the foods and night life it’s just a lot to do in this city
This is a place i think every person I know that has been to and says it did not live up to the hype or they would never go back. I definitely suggest visiting but it’s just the hype for this city is so high your expectations aren’t exceeded. The local food is crepes and if your not big into the sweets not much to be appreciated.. but this is my opinion.. the night life on the other hand is definitely dope and fashion is top tier as well
I’ve heard stories about traveling black in Poland and how that’s it’s not safe. Honestly this is just my experience and opinion. I’ve not received any racism while I’ve visited but you can definitely tell people staring at you. Mostly because they’ve never seen your race before or it could be racial tension. I was treated fairly at restaurants clubs and other establishments. In fact you get people coming up to you wanting to take pics saying you look like a rapper or so. Also the women come pretty easily in this country just saying
Hong Kong is one of my favorite places in Asia. Just went back couple weeks ago and I suggest visiting quarry bay, big Buddha you can take the bus just heads up if you are scared to take the rail up through the mountains like me haha, the night life is definitely what’s up also you can’t go to Hong Kong and not visit the night markets it’s one of a kind
I didn’t spend much time here but I can tell you .. you can’t beat steak dinners here and the for the price! I had a large and i mean seriously large t bone steak meal for about $7 it was so good also Argentina is definitely known for its steak and definitely suggest it
Colombia is one of those countries I would definitely move to. I love Cartagena I loved the coconut rice the lemonada frio the roof top clubs and I definitely suggest renting a boat and visiting Rosario island I would definitely definitely recommend Colombia and also go to the mud volcano and get a bathing massage bath it’s a different experience
London just reminds of being in America just more diversity and everyone has a different accent I could definitely see myself living there just because of the diversity. The night life is everything and so much things to see when it comes to tourism. London never lets me down
Berlin is very dope coincidentally from its history it’s had a major turn around from being the capital of racism to the most diverse city in Germany. The night life is for everyone every culture race gender it’s just one big melting pot! And of course so much history from the holocaust memorial to the cathedrals and Berlin Wall you really can enjoy being in Berlin
I think it speaks for itself when visiting Amsterdam but I’ll give my review anyway. Well you have to try an edible or join from bulldog weed shop and a must to see the red light district at night. Best thing to do is to rent a bicycle, this city is a big bike life city so that’s best way to get around. For history the Anne Frank museum is a must see. This city is also big on fashion so you can find some good trendy clothing shops so I’d take advantage of that as well
I didn’t stay long had a overnight layover so just visited a mosque and ate some local foods. My favorite was the local doner kebab. Nothing to special about it just good lamb meat lol
South Korea for each time I visit is super dope! Best things to do starting with night life you can literally bar hop the city and find your way into cool nightclubs or karaoke is very big there still lol. Exploring I suggest the DMZ tour u should always do this once it’s a really cool tour teaching you a lot of history on north and south Korea’s war against each other and you actually get to go in of the tunnels North Korea used to try to invade South Korea Another place to visit is Bongeunsa Temple which over looks downtown Seoul it’s pretty cool as well Another temple to check out is Gyeonbuk palace, don’t just go there you have to dress up in the heritage costumes. Personally I suggest not buying from the Main Street even though the costumes are cheaper. I prefer down the allies where they are little more costly but the costumes are better taken care of and they are more custom and less likely to see you outfit twice while touring. When wearing the costume you are allowed in the temple for free. I also suggest a tour guide to learn about a little background behind this temple. You can easily spend 2-4 hours at this temple as it’s pretty large. Hope you enjoy South Korea!
I didn’t get to do much as I was traveling with my company but I can say being black I had no issues people loved to ask me questions about America and take pictures nothing crazy
For me this trip had the most lost or distorted History which had been explained to me in grade schools as lies. To find out so much about the culture and history of blacks in Egypt was astounding! I know now days you can google and find things but even google doesn’t give enough of a history lesson as seeing it. I totally suggest doing the camel ride through the pyramids and to go inside the pyramids and other places that they allow you to go in. Also it’s like a must to get a tour guide if need help you can dm me on Instagram I’ll be glad to share my guide she was really helpful and has us literally on the go as soon as we landed and checked in. I stayed in Giza preferably because our view outside was literally right in front the pyramids. To wake up to that every morning was a blessing itself. You can find the apartment on Airbnb if it’s available. I suggest the museum and Memphis as well for more history. The reason i say your guide because it makes the experience that much more than taking pictures in front of statues that you see today as replicas and you see how much of the things we still use and do today based off the artifacts. Your not allowed to take pictures of the mummies but hey I did (Kanye shrugs) you’ll see all the high priests and Kings at the museum downtown Cairo. They are still in tact you’ll see that women wore the same wigs that you slightly see today and how small the people were back then it’s crazy. Again if you need a guide don’t hesitate to message me. Also you’ve got to go to the citadel mosque it’s amazing itself. Last tip, tips are a big thing here to get pictures inside the Pyramids it’s courteous but your not obligated keep that in mind and don’t let them pressure you into big tips. Other then that you’ll love Cairo.
So I just got back from Delhi India and from what I was told it’s best not to come in the winter because of the air quality. I can’t stress that enough, it was so horrible its like imagine u had burned some food and u need to open your windows and doors to get it out yet u have this lingering smoke in your home that’s the best way I could describe it. Aside that it’s fefi a third world country so don’t have high expectations on cleanliness. You’ll see cows roaming the streets more then dogs, but it’s a great cultural experience still in my opinion. Now affordability, outside paging for my flight and hotel. I lived off $350 and that was considered excessive for local shopping and exploring. I would say you need a max of $30 for Uber’s and if u wanted to you could take a Uber from Delhi to Agra and see the Taj Mahal for a one way of $50. The highest I paid for a ride was $4.50 and that’s even sitting in traffic for an hour plus and going to the other side of the city. Airport rides tend to be $3-$5 just because it’s to and from the airport, but outside of the airport you’ll be good! Local foods can range anywhere from $2-$20. Alcoholic beverages are a little but more pricey ranging from $4-$15 depending on where you go. If you want to purchase alcohol it’s cheaper to get it at the duty free in the airport upon arrival. Prices almost double when buying at the liquor stores in the city. When visiting the Taj Mahal we paid about $17 for basically a vip entry which you don’t have to wait in the super long line that wraps around the Taj Mahal to Enter and see the tomb stones. Also keep in mind you can NOT take in food products drones chewing gum baby toys genie lamps (I bought a alladin carpet and a genie lamp for a specific photo don’t judge me lol) or any props they will take it and unless you find someone to bargain with to hold your item(s) you won’t be able to get it back. Also for food in Agra, right outside the entry walk to the Taj Mahal there is this restaurant called Mughal darvar - it’s right next door to the place where they create the marble stones (the family of the original Taj Mahal builders) I promise u this food is amazing and you can get a full 3 course meal for under $15 some of the best Indian food I had while in the country period! Now back to Delhi Visit the Indian Gate and the parliament which is along the street to each other. You can take a Tuk tuk but bargain the price as they cost more than a Uber but still less than $8 most cases. The temples there are 3 major one you just have to see just keep in mind all the tempes are closed on Monday. They are Humayuns tomb, Gurudwara Shri Bangla Sahib, and Akshardham Temple. Must visits entry is about $5 if I’m correct. Beware of the guys with the cameras some may actually have high quality cameras and there prices are definitely negotiable but some are just con artist- great photo skills but quality just isn’t worth it- same goes for photos at the Taj Mahal. This should answer a lot of key questions to start you off. Good luck and have fun and watch out for the Delhi belly
Minnajima island Now this island you would need to take the ferry from more north of the main Okinawan island. It took us about an hour to get to that side once you get there the ferry runs about $15-$20 per person and takes only 15-20 mins to arrive. Now there are many islands to choose from but this one seemed to have the most activities. From clear boat canoeing to floats to umbrella sitting areas, jet skis jet ski float pulls, parasailing snorkeling, and jet pack water thing. We spend literally from noon - 5pm out there a must try if you haven’t in life, is the purple yam ice cream .. yes purple yams it’s very very good! This island is very small in size literally can reach the other side in 3-5 mins but it’s the most fun also Aka Island Off the coast of Okinawa Island of Japan - much similar to in saying as the island of Hawaii to North America. Okinawa Island has many Americans predominantly military families but you’ll catch a few tourist every now and then. From this main island you would take about and hour and a half ferry for about $45r/t or the speed boat ferry which is 30 mins and about $65 r/t. Once you get to the island you can ask at the desk for a map but it’s only two roads leading to the left leads you across the bridge and up the mountain. Depending on how much time you have if your just there for the day I would suggest going straight to the beach area. To do so you can walk should take about 20-30 mins walking or rent a hike on the island which should cut time in half. Once you get to the beach you’ll see a place where you can buy snacks and drinks and also rent snorkel gear for like $15 and all these prices I’m naming is USD. From there you make your own journey, but also ask the life guards about where is the best place to watch the sea turtles, for us that day it was closer to the ferry pick up to find all the sea turtles. Beautiful clear waters you’ll love this island.
Kingdom of Bahrain, I truly believe this place as well as Dubai pretty much the Middle East will be the first to look like the Jetsons. Aside from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait it’s way more relaxed. Alcohol is permitted so the nightlife is pretty dope. They always have an artist in town and they have a lot of concerts. I suggest checking out Manama souq for shopping it’s like the flea market but you can find the best 18k and 22k gold and silver at the best prices and it’s yellow gold so it’s top notch. For fun activities they have a big go cart circuit really fast and fun. They also have this tree called the tree of life which in there representation is mythically said to be the garden of Eden tree. It’s in the middle of the desert by its self so I can see why and it’s uniquely shaped. Also the Kings camel farm which is free you can feed and take pics with them. Also there is a place to ride horses take a tour along the beach and maybe even go in the water with the horses. The city is kind of as expensive as Dubai but it’s beautiful and down to earth people. One thing to look out for is a lot of Thai women come to Bahrain and a lot of prostitution so don’t get sucked in haha.
Switzerland me my brother and a couple of my friends did a road trip from Germany to Switzerland.. first of all out of all the countries I been Switzerland and Norway are the most expensive I’ve seen so far. The cheapest food I saw for example was at Burger King and thst was a small fry for $13 no joke. A dissarano averaged $20 just for example. Other then that we went for Christmas and it was so amazing we stayed one night in small alp village called airolo it was high in the mountains and had the best morning view a lot of snow boarding and skiing the next day we went to this town called Engelberg.. this place was very high in climate first you climb this mountain and then your in this flat surface and the best way to describe this town is to watch the grinch it was exactly the same and then you take to the slopes which is in the clouds or ice skate sled etc they had a lot going on in this town it’s a great suggestion of mine and everyone is friendly .. I actually met someone from Houston where I’m from here so I’m assuming it’s a well known place .. we were just advised by locals
Playa Del Carmen was awesome I set up my trip from a Mexican tour Mexico Destinos from Mexico City. For 5 days and round trip flight included we spent $650 for two our all inclusive resort was a Spanish resort but most the staff still spoke English our first day we relaxed on site and drank haha. Second day we rented a car for $40 and drove to tulum ruins around 7am by 10am headed to the cenotes near the Chichen Itza pyramid and lastly visited the pyramid. The next day we relaxed during the day then did the X-Plor tour during night. I highly advise going at night they have zip line(7) off road tour, cenotes swimming, cenotes rafting peddling with these small paddles on your hands free dinner all you can eat and more overall that was pretty fun and cost about $100 per person. That wore us out so we relaxed and did shopping the last day taxis charge 90 pesos buy you can give 50 and say it’s all you have they’ll work with you lol. It’s very very touristy so you’ll see people of all races and things are over priced for Mexican standards due to that fact. It’s expected but still a very cheap adventure you’ll love it!
Tokyo Japan is pretty dope I suggest if your taking the trains download a app called Tokyo it’s a baby blue and white app with a train in the center to me Tokyo and South Korea may have been the hardest to get around because the language barrier but google translate helps number one tourist for Americans is shibuya the main crossing street is the popular clip from the movie fast and furious Tokyo drift a lot of good shopping and food around also some good clubs there is this one I’m sorry I can’t remember the name but they have like 5 clubs in one underground near the shibuya strip going up the hill towards the adidas store way. Near the airport they have one of the coolest temples Shinjoshi Temple it’s pretty big you could spend about 3 hours there just exploring. Also visit the Tokyo Tower ? and the new tower Tokyo sky tree which is now the highest tower in Tokyo I suggest using trains Uber can get expensive. Also if you don’t have any tattoos you should look up the Japanese onsen (hot springs) they have a lot and have natural outdoor ones. Lastly visit Mt Fuji on the way there you have to pass through the infamous Black Forest and also you pass by some cool temples that you can visit as well
Cartagena Colombia may be my top 5 places I’ve been but this was also a guys trip. Me and 7 other fellas rented a home on Airbnb and had up and downstairs with a pool in the center very affordable we stayed about 5 days. Now I may skip a lot due to the fact to keep it PG but also there are a lot of things to visit with a lot of history. I suggest staying as close as you can to the old city. The clubs are all roof top and a must go. The local food... amazing and a top of the food for me was the coconut rice it’s just that good and limonada frio ?? must haves they are freshly made and also the margaritas are made from scratch you can just taste how organic it is compared to the states. We rented a boat and headed to an island called Isla Baru it’s about 30-45 mins from the main land and there you can get a massage jet ski and enjoy this beautiful beach excluded from tourist. Also for lunch you should try the lobster fresh caught and you pick out the one you like and they can cook it with there fish of the day. They had some of the best margaritas I’ve had in my life on this island no exaggeration. The next day we went to Isla Del Rosario this island is so dope we rented a big boat for this about $1000 total small yacht pretty much. Once there you’ll see other yachts just all parked around these water huts and everyone just relaxes on there boats. Someone will come on a boat and jet ski offering food to sell which was delicious fresh squid salads fish etc. this trip is almost a must. We didn’t do this part but on the way to this tour it’s a island with a home that everyone visits to see the dolphins you can ask locals about it or just google it it’s much more affordable than the Mexico dolphin tours. Lastly we did the volcano mud tour which is pretty unique we talked to our taxi driver cause we could smell it in the air (cocaine) lol and he confirmed all the smoke fields you see on the way to this tour mud bath called Vulcán Del Totumó and when your at the top you can more visibly see the fields. The mud bath was just something you have to add to your list get a massage if you please and then wash off down the hill. Overall my favorite trip!
Me and couple of my friends went back in June 2016 and it was an amazing visit we got an Airbnb right of the beach it was a really good price affordable we did local stuff on the beach first few days like snorkeling and renting these small motor boats which was all under $75 together we also rented mopeds for our trip it was like $50-$75 for the whole time we were there. We pretty much went to all the clubs and hit up this local strip club that all the rappers go to when in town they had pics of drake Dmx Lil Wayne etc. yea this was definitely a guys trip. They also have this casino combined with a club plays hip hop music pretty much all clubs played hip hop. Lastly we did the go cart tour which is pretty cool they take you to this place where there selling items such as raw coconut oil homemade cigars liqueurs spices etc then you continue on the tour towards the beach going through dirt areas once you get to this beach you relax for I think hour or two then head back. Overall being black in the DR is easy they call us brothers of different mother.
Cebu and Palawan Philippines This is one of my top 3 trips I’ve taken I went right after thanksgiving and we stayed in Cebu the whole trip for less than $700 for 4 people at our Airbnb for 8 days. We also took a $220 round trip flight to Palawan total for 4 persons and stayed two days. Now I’ll start with Palawan. You can get a cheap Airbnb and then a must is to do the tour to the islands I think we paid like $40 for all and it’s all day with a meal that you go to the market and pick out which is pretty dope to see all the seafood choices they have we spent about $20 it that on all the food which i think was way cheaper I’m sorry i can’t remember that. There are so many small islands they’ll take you to visit but also relax and enjoy the crystal clear waters. Then later get a massage for about $3-$5 for one hour. Enjoy local foods big meals about $3-$5 as well. Cebu it’s more so the tourist Big city they have it all from massage houses for pleasure to casinos and night clubs. I suggest staying north of Cebu and taking a tour south to the whale sharks and canyoneering tour. Please do the canyoneering and whale shark tour it’s one of the best it’s like $60-$70 per person and all day with meal included. Now this is hard to say coming from the south but they have some of the best fried chicken on this tour hands down. The tour with whale sharks can have photos taken if u don’t have a go pro they will have one. Small overview but definitely a cool trip in a third world country
Mid Germany Frankfurt Area There is so much to see in the mid west Germany and there all within hours of each other you can visit these castles if you plan 3-4 day trip in Germany first you have Eltz Castle then you have Cochem Castle both two of the top castles on this side. Then you have idar oberstein very old village it’s said that gems and gold and diamonds started trade here before it became big in Africa. So it’s still a big gem village and also the main attraction the cathedral in mountain. Literally it’s built in the mountain and it’s super cool to see. While on that side might as well take a trip down to the Black Forest it’s not to far from eltz castle. There’s a village below eltz where you could grab some good local eats. Also Cochem has a pretty unique village located on the river front well worth going and having a coffee or tea. If you have time after all this you should bounce up to Cologne Germany and see the cathedrals there definitely all worth seeing
Sicily Taormina Italy Now this is still my favorite place I’ve ever visited. What you would do is take a bus or the train from central Catania which is about $5-$30 depending on if you take the bus or train it’s about 45 min ride from Sicily and once you get there I suggest spending at least 2 days there because the town has a lot for you to do where you could visit cathedrals to the old theatre built of stone enjoy some good eats and if you can get a hotel up top and enjoy the view down below. If not just go inside the hotel and have a drink on the balcony which has an amazing view of the ocean down below. Now the beach down below you can take a a bus down or take a trolley both about 5 euro. The beaches here are of stone so the water shines off these stones giving it hi defined colors with crystal clear waters it’s just a great atmosphere. You can also swim or walk down to the cave and take some nice pics. Overall you won’t be disappointed
I visited back in 2015 and Bucharest is very very cheap compared to prices in Poland or Mexico to give and example. People speak English very well in some places and some not. The city is beautiful with lots of shopping and a lot of history. I would suggest a tour bus to learn a lot about it. The night life is great as well, the city reminds me of Rome but very much smaller of course. It may seem like they aren’t black friendly, but trust me the girls and guys are more interested than you may think. I also suggest taking the train to Transylvania and visit Dracula’s castle .. I don’t remember the cost but it’s affordable. You can also stay the night, why not huh? And lastly Constanta it’s a beach town and more so resort town. You’ll love it it’s a Cancún Cozumel type of feel.
I hope this helps all So the place is about a hour and half out from Mexico City, I suggest flying into Mexico City airport if your going. When driving to the location on your gps it will show two or three routes and saying one of these routes may not be a paved road. Take the one that goes straight and not the one goes straight then left back into the straight road .. I’m telling u from experience that is not the paved road lol. Now there will be signs along the way once your about an hour out and you will see a lot of people selling water float items and such also the pollo (chicken) is good I stopped and picked up a few on the way thinking it wasn’t much to choose from of food at the location. I was wrong, there are two restaurants on the location and they serve breakfast as well. I think we paid 796 pesos per night maybe cheaper I’m sorry I don’t remember the cost exactly and food is really cheap u can get a full days meal for about $7-10 usd if even that much. There is also a bar type food place below towards the pools also (note this is if your staying on site) Now when you arrive you will be at the top of the mountain which there is a city and other hotels just in case you aren’t able to get a rsvp at this one due to the fact it’s first come first serve .. myself and my girlfriend we arrived around 2pm which they were checking out guest around that time so we really got lucky cause there was about 5 keys left after us. I suggest getting there at 830am put your name on the list and go down to the river front part and just relax until they tell you your time to check in.. keep in mind though if u do leave the check in area, when they are calling names you have to be there or they will skip you. Now if u arrive after your name is called I’m not sure if you go back to the bottom of the list but I would assume so. Now the place isn’t located half way down the mountiain you will go down a hill that swivels back and forth and once you get to the entrance you either go left which is to the river front and that’s a camp site so if you prefer you can do that. Or go right and they’ll direct you to the hotel. Now there is a entry fee which again I don’t remember the cost but it wasn’t no more then $10 usd if I’m correct Now the rooms are pretty well kept for what i was expecting they have one and two bedroom cottages and one two and three set up hotel style with balconies and having room and bathroom. There is also camping allowed on site but i wouldn’t suggest it as it rained over night the night we stayed and I felt bad for everyone who hadn’t camped as they tried to hide under roofed areas to save there stuff. There are the public infinity pools and then the amazon style which is a little bit more to the left when facing the office way and is open 8am -6pm if I’m correct on closing time Again the food and drinks on site is amazing I think I answered majority of the questions the parking is safe they have staff on site .. the location is pretty safe but like any place u visit I always saybbe cautious of your surroundings even though they have a security staff. There is much more to see around the area outside the resort They have a Instagram if you have any questions and you can find it on YouTube Facebook: Grutas Tolantongo Instagram: @grutastolantongo You can also add me on Instagram if you wish to see my travels or have any further questions Instagram: @MarcusMeetsWorld Thanks
